Tommaso Ciampa’s first year in AEW has been defined by championship success, major-card appearances and a fast rise into the company’s title picture. But while the former WWE standout has already made a significant professional impact since arriving in January, Ciampa says the most meaningful part of the transition has been what it has meant away from the ring.

Ciampa has spoken warmly about the way AEW’s schedule and international events have allowed his wife and daughter, Willow, to share in experiences that he believes would not have been possible before the move. For a performer whose presentation has often centered on the intensity of the “Psycho Killer” persona, the family perspective offers a notably personal explanation for why the change has been so important.

In less than a year with AEW, Ciampa has won the TNT Championship, pursued other championships and wrestled on several of the promotion’s biggest events. His work has made him one of the more prominent arrivals of 2026, but Ciampa’s own assessment of the decision is rooted in travel, memories and the chance to make his wrestling career something his family can actively experience with him.

“The amount of times we’ve traveled together: London, Scotland, Montreal. My hope is to get them out to Mexico next time, or even France, because it was so cool out there too. We’ve been doing a lot of trips. Willow and my wife came to Chicago and she had her big on-screen moment with Okada. There’s so many things that have happened in the last 10 months that wouldn’t have happened if we didn’t make the move when we did.”

That list illustrates how quickly Ciampa’s AEW tenure has expanded beyond weekly television. International wrestling tours can be demanding for talent and their families, but Ciampa sees the opportunities to visit London, Scotland and Montreal together as a central benefit of this chapter. He also pointed toward Mexico and France as potential future destinations he would like to experience with his family.

For Ciampa, those trips are particularly meaningful because they are giving Willow a unique perspective on the profession that has shaped so much of his life. Wrestling families frequently deal with the difficult realities of travel and time apart. Ciampa’s comments instead frame this stretch as an opportunity to bring his family closer to the work, allowing them to see new places and become part of the broader world surrounding AEW events.

Willow’s All Out Moment Stood Out

One of the clearest examples came at AEW All Out 2026 in Chicago, where Ciampa faced Kazuchika Okada. Ciampa’s wife and daughter were present at ringside for the match, making the show a family occasion as well as a major in-ring assignment.

Before the event began, AEW’s production team gave Willow a special birthday surprise. She received an entrance of her own, beginning with Ciampa’s current entrance music before moving into a rendition of “Happy Birthday.” The moment gave Willow a visible role during a major AEW weekend and created a memory that Ciampa singled out when discussing the last 10 months.

Ciampa referenced Willow’s “big on-screen moment with Okada,” connecting the birthday celebration to one of the defining figures of modern professional wrestling. Okada’s presence naturally made the moment even more distinctive. For Ciampa, it was not simply a case of his family attending a show; it was an example of them being included in a setting that mattered to him professionally.

The gesture also reflected the value AEW placed on making room for a performer’s family at a high-profile event. Ciampa was preparing to wrestle one of the most decorated names in the industry, yet the production found a way to celebrate his daughter before the bell rang. It was a brief segment in the context of a full event, but its importance to Ciampa was clear.

“Looking back at it all, it’s incredible to think of the experiences that we’re all gaining, specifically Willow, because a lot of what I do nowadays is pretty much all for her. It’s just been a total blessing.”

Ciampa’s words place his current career direction in a broader context. Championships, marquee opponents and televised storylines remain central to any wrestler’s professional ambitions, and Ciampa has had no shortage of those elements in AEW. Yet he made it clear that the experiences available to Willow are what have made the move especially rewarding.

A Fast Start in AEW

Ciampa entered AEW in January and wasted little time becoming a factor. Winning the TNT Championship gave him an immediate place among the company’s established titleholders, while his continued involvement around other championships underscored that AEW views him as more than a one-program addition.

The TNT title has historically served as a platform for wrestlers to establish themselves in prominent matches on AEW programming, and Ciampa’s reign added another important credential to a career already built around an intense, physical style. His arrival also gave AEW a seasoned performer with experience in major singles bouts, championship programs and emotionally driven rivalries.

His match with Okada at All Out was one of the most visible illustrations of that positioning. Facing Okada on a major event immediately placed Ciampa in rare company, given Okada’s standing in the global wrestling landscape. Even with the personal family moment attached to the weekend, the contest itself represented a substantial professional opportunity for Ciampa.

Ciampa’s early AEW run has therefore operated on two levels. On television, he has been presented as a serious championship contender and a wrestler capable of competing against elite opposition. Outside the ring, he has found a situation that he says has opened doors for his wife and daughter to be present for moments that might otherwise have happened from a distance.

The Personal Side of a Major Career Decision

A move between major wrestling promotions is often analyzed through the lens of creative direction, money, title opportunities or matchups. Ciampa’s comments show another side of that decision-making process. The schedule, travel destinations and ability to include family can be just as important as the most visible wrestling-related factors.

That does not diminish what Ciampa has accomplished in AEW. If anything, it provides additional context for his early success. He is not describing the move merely as a fresh professional challenge; he is describing it as a decision that has reshaped what his family can experience together.

London, Scotland and Montreal have already become part of that story. Chicago added an especially memorable chapter through Willow’s birthday entrance and the family’s presence for Ciampa’s match with Okada. Ciampa’s hope to take them to Mexico or France suggests he sees the international possibilities still ahead as a major part of the appeal.

There is also a notable sense of perspective in Ciampa’s remarks. He did not focus on individual accolades when explaining why the move has been positive. Instead, he measured its impact through shared trips and the memories being created for his daughter. That perspective gives his AEW run a personal significance that extends far beyond a win-loss record or a title reign.

What Comes Next

Ciampa remains a key name in AEW after a productive first 10 months. As TNT Champion and as a wrestler who has already been involved in multiple title pursuits, he has plenty of competitive objectives ahead. His encounter with Okada demonstrated the level of opposition AEW is willing to put across the ring from him, and his established intensity ensures he will remain a difficult opponent for anyone in his path.

At the same time, Ciampa’s comments suggest that the next chapter will not be measured solely by what happens in matches. The possibility of more international dates means more chances for his wife and Willow to travel with him, and more opportunities to turn a demanding wrestling schedule into a series of family memories.

For Ciampa, that balance has made the jump to AEW worthwhile. His championship success and featured bouts have established him inside the company, while the experiences shared with his family have given the move a far deeper meaning. Less than a year after arriving, Ciampa sees the decision not only as a productive professional step, but as what he called a “total blessing” for the people closest to him.
