Rey Horus is headed back to TNA Wrestling for Destination X.

TNA announced on November 6 that Horus will be part of the World X-Cup festivities at the November 15 event. The announcement makes Horus the first confirmed entrant in one of the tournament’s opening Fatal 4-Way matches, with the remaining competitors still to be named.

The booking brings Horus back to a TNA ring for the first time since August 2022. His last appearance for the promotion came in a four-way match on iMPACT, where he shared the ring with Black Taurus, Laredo Kid, and Trey Miguel. More than four years later, Horus now returns at a show built around TNA’s X Division tradition, Ultimate X competition, and the revival of the World X-Cup format.

As of the latest Destination X lineup, Horus is the only wrestler announced for the World X-Cup. The field will be decided through two four-person Fatal 4-Way matches, with the winners moving on to the World X-Cup Final.

Horus Becomes the First Confirmed World X-Cup Entrant

The World X-Cup portion of Destination X will feature a clear three-match structure. Horus has been placed in the first Fatal 4-Way contest against three opponents who have not yet been revealed. A second Fatal 4-Way will also determine a finalist. Those two winners will then meet in the tournament final later on the card.

While TNA has not yet identified the other seven wrestlers involved, the announcement of Horus establishes an early direction for the field. His return gives the tournament an experienced masked lucha competitor with previous history in TNA’s fast-paced, multi-person environment.

Horus’ most recent TNA match also came in a setting familiar to the World X-Cup concept: a four-way contest involving a collection of wrestlers associated with high-speed aerial offense and the broader lucha tradition. That August 2022 match included Trey Miguel, who is also scheduled to compete at Destination X, although Miguel’s confirmed match is a TNA World Championship challenge against Leon Slater.

There is no indication that Horus and Miguel will meet in the World X-Cup tournament. Miguel is currently listed for the world title match, and the identities of Horus’ three opening-round opponents remain unannounced. Still, both men being on the Destination X card adds another connection between Horus’ prior TNA appearance and his upcoming return.

Destination X Is Taking Shape

TNA Destination X is scheduled for November 15 and has several major matches already confirmed alongside the World X-Cup brackets. The show will be headlined by Leon Slater defending the TNA World Championship against Trey Miguel.

Slater enters the event as champion, while Miguel will look to add the company’s top prize to his accomplishments in TNA. With the World X-Cup tournament and a Men’s Ultimate X Match also set for the same night, Destination X is positioning the X Division style prominently throughout its card.

The Men’s Ultimate X Match will award its winner a future shot at the X Division Title. Participants have not yet been announced. Ultimate X is one of TNA’s signature match concepts, and the stakes attached to this edition ensure that the match will have implications beyond Destination X itself.

The women’s division will also be represented in an Ultimate X Match. The winner of the Women’s Ultimate X Match will receive a Knockouts World Title opportunity, though TNA has not revealed the entrants for that bout either. With both Ultimate X fields still open and seven World X-Cup positions still to be filled, a substantial portion of the Destination X card remains to be finalized.

On the championship side, Indi Hartwell will defend the TNA Knockouts World Championship against Shayna Baszler. That contest presents a direct title opportunity for Baszler while the Women’s Ultimate X winner will emerge as another future challenger for the Knockouts division’s top championship.

Elsewhere, syX, the team of Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw, will face Matt Hardy and Moose. The match gives Destination X a tag team contest involving two established names in Hardy and Moose against the pairing of Sawyer and Shaw.

What Horus’ Return Means for the Tournament

At this stage, the biggest unanswered question around Horus’ return is simply who will stand across the ring from him in the opening round. TNA has not announced whether the remaining World X-Cup entrants will represent specific regions, teams, or wrestling styles, and no additional tournament details have been confirmed beyond the two Fatal 4-Way qualifiers and final.

That leaves the World X-Cup as one of the most open elements of Destination X. Horus has a defined place in the first match, but the eventual makeup of the bracket could significantly shape expectations for the tournament. A field filled with established TNA X Division names would create one type of contest; a group that includes more returning or first-time competitors would offer a different dynamic. For now, those details remain unknown.

What is certain is that Horus is returning in a featured tournament role rather than in a standard singles match. Winning his opening Fatal 4-Way would send him directly to the final, meaning he would need two victories in one night to claim the World X-Cup.

The tournament setup also places an emphasis on adaptability. Fatal 4-Way matches can change quickly, with no room for a competitor to focus solely on one opponent. Horus will need to navigate three rivals in the first round before potentially entering the final against the survivor of an entirely separate four-man match.

For TNA, announcing Horus first provides an early focal point for the tournament while allowing the promotion to continue building anticipation around the unfilled slots. Destination X has historically been tied to the X Division’s identity, and the addition of Horus reinforces the event’s focus on athletic, international, and multi-person competition.
