Matt Hardy has found a powerful ally in Moose as TNA Wrestling builds toward Destination X on November 15. The two will team up against syX, the tandem of Joseph Sawyer and Samuel Shaw, following the events of the November 5 edition of TNA Wrestling Thursday Night iMPACT.
The newly announced tag team match comes one week after syX defeated Matt and Jeff Hardy in a Slaughterhouse syX match on the October 29 program. That contest ended with a particularly brutal attack on Jeff Hardy. Sawyer and Shaw placed a trash bin over Jeff’s upper body and struck it with axes, taking Jeff out of the equation and leaving Matt without his longtime partner.
With Jeff absent from the November 5 show, Moose opened the broadcast by confronting syX over what happened. Moose called out Sawyer and Shaw, and they answered the challenge in person. Rather than simply engage in a verbal exchange, syX immediately attacked Moose, establishing that the group had no hesitation about targeting another major TNA name after their confrontation with The Hardys.

Matt Hardy then made the save for Moose. Later in the night, Matt addressed syX again, with Moose joining him on screen. The segment led directly to the confirmation that Hardy and Moose will meet Sawyer and Shaw at Destination X.

Hardy’s Fight With syX Takes A New Direction
The announcement changes the immediate complexion of Matt Hardy’s issue with syX. The October 29 loss was not just another defeat for The Hardys; it was followed by an attack that removed Jeff Hardy from the ongoing conflict. Matt now enters Destination X without the brother who has stood alongside him through many of the defining tag team moments of his career.
That absence gives the match a different kind of emotional focus. Matt is still seeking an answer to syX after what happened to Jeff, but Moose is not simply filling an open spot. Moose has his own reason to confront Sawyer and Shaw after they jumped him on November 5. The Destination X tag bout therefore brings together two wrestlers with separate grievances against a team that has quickly made its presence felt through violence.
For syX, the match is an opportunity to prove that their win over The Hardys was not a one-off result tied only to the stipulations of the Slaughterhouse syX match. Sawyer and Shaw already scored a high-profile victory over one of TNA’s most established pairings. Defeating Matt Hardy again, this time with Moose at his side, would make an even stronger statement about their position in the company.
Moose also represents a major physical obstacle for syX. His initial callout showed that he was willing to go directly at the team, even before Matt arrived to even the odds. Sawyer and Shaw got the better of him in their ambush, but Destination X will give Moose the chance to meet them under officially sanctioned conditions with Hardy in his corner.
Destination X Card Continues To Take Shape
The Hardy and Moose versus syX match joins a Destination X lineup built around championship matches and the return of several X Division-centered concepts. TNA World Champion Leon Slater is scheduled to defend the title against Trey Miguel, placing the company’s top championship in a major singles match.
Slater’s defense against Miguel brings together two wrestlers strongly associated with fast-paced, athletic competition, an appropriate fit for an event carrying the Destination X name. The world title match stands as one of the clearest focal points on the card, with Miguel looking to take the championship from the reigning titleholder.
The TNA Knockouts World Championship will also be defended, as Indi Hartwell is set to face Shayna Baszler. Hartwell enters the event as champion, while Baszler presents a significant challenger in a title match that adds another marquee singles contest to the show.
Destination X will additionally feature both women’s and men’s Ultimate X matches. The winner of the women’s Ultimate X match will earn a shot at the Knockouts World Title, while the winner of the men’s Ultimate X match will receive an opportunity at the X Division Title. Participants for both matches have yet to be announced.
Ultimate X has long been one of the defining match concepts associated with TNA’s X Division identity. With title opportunities at stake in both versions, the matches could have repercussions beyond Destination X itself. The eventual winners will emerge with clear paths toward championship competition, though the fields are still to be determined.
World X-Cup Competition Is Also Set For The Event
The event is scheduled to include the World X-Cup, beginning with two Fatal 4-Way matches. The competitors in those opening matches remain unannounced, as do the teams or representatives who will ultimately advance to the final.
The structure currently listed for the tournament places two Fatal 4-Way bouts ahead of a final match. While TNA has not yet revealed the entrants, the World X-Cup component gives Destination X another competitive thread beyond the title bouts and the personal conflict involving Matt Hardy, Moose, and syX.
The number of matches with participants still to be revealed leaves TNA with further announcements to make before November 15. But the addition of Hardy and Moose against Sawyer and Shaw gives the card a defined grudge match with a direct connection to the recent events on iMPACT.
What Is At Stake For Moose And Matt Hardy
Matt Hardy and Moose have not been positioned as a long-established tandem heading into this match. Their partnership was born from circumstance: syX attacked Moose after he called them out, and Matt came to his aid. Still, that circumstance may be enough to make the pairing dangerous.
Matt brings personal motivation after seeing Jeff taken out in the aftermath of the October 29 match. Moose brings a desire to answer an ambush that occurred in front of the TNA audience one week later. Both men know that a loss to syX would give Sawyer and Shaw another major victory and potentially allow them to claim control of the rivalry.
At the same time, syX will be entering with momentum. They have already shown they can use the environment and their aggressive approach to overwhelm opponents. Their attack on Moose demonstrated that their focus did not end with The Hardys. They have expanded the conflict, and Destination X now gives them a chance to capitalize on that escalation.
The question is whether Hardy and Moose can operate effectively enough as a newly formed unit to stop them. Hardy’s experience in tag team wrestling is extensive, but the dynamic changes with Moose as his partner rather than Jeff. Moose’s power and Hardy’s veteran instincts could make for a formidable combination, but syX have already proven they are willing to impose their own chaotic style on a match.
With Jeff Hardy’s status for the event not established, Matt will move forward alongside Moose. Their shared objective is straightforward: make Sawyer and Shaw answer for their attacks and prevent syX from turning their recent success into an even larger statement.
