The night was promoted around major championship stakes, including Roman Reigns defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Penta and Chad Gable putting the Intercontinental Championship on the line against Dragon Lee.
Money in the Bank qualifying action was also scheduled to continue, with two additional entrants set to be determined for both the men’s and women’s ladder matches. By the end of the first men’s qualifier, Je’Von Evans had earned one of those coveted spots after surviving a physical Triple Threat Match against Big Cass and Austin Theory.
The show also addressed the changing Women’s World Championship picture. Stephanie Vaquer entered Raw having regained the title from Liv Morgan at a WWE Live Event in Chile on September 12, and her celebration quickly gave way to a confrontation involving Morgan, Dominik Mysterio, Rey Mysterio, and El Grande Americano.
Mexico City welcomes Raw and Stephanie Vaquer
Raw began with a look back at the World Heavyweight Championship Number One Contenders Tournament final between Penta and Rey Fenix. Penta won that tournament to secure his challenge against Roman Reigns, defeating Laredo Kid in the opening round on August 10, La Parka in the semifinals on August 24, and Rey Fenix in the final on August 31.

After the video package, Rey Mysterio made his way to the ring with Raw General Manager Adam Pearce nearby. Rey welcomed the Mexico City crowd and spoke in Spanish, emphasizing how meaningful it was to represent Mexico on a night that marked Raw’s first visit to the city in 15 years.
Rey also pointed to a significant moment from WWE’s South American tour: Stephanie Vaquer reclaiming the Women’s World Championship in her native Chile. Vaquer then joined Rey and Pearce in the ring. She thanked the fans in Spanish and described winning back the championship in Chile as the joy of her life. Vaquer said she was honored to be back in Mexico as champion.
Liv Morgan interrupted the moment, arriving with Dominik Mysterio. Morgan argued that she had been wronged in the Chile title change. Becky Lynch served as the special guest referee for that match, and Morgan’s complaint centered on Lynch failing to count a pinfall for her before Vaquer went on to win the championship.
Morgan insulted Rey Mysterio, calling him a “deadhead father,” while Dominik echoed the criticism. Dominik then referenced his own recent setback, as footage aired showing El Grande Americano defeating him for the AAA Mega Championship with Rey Mysterio serving as special guest referee.
Dominik and Morgan proposed a Mixed Tag Team Match against Rey and Vaquer. Pearce, however, said Rey was not medically cleared to compete. El Grande Americano then emerged and offered to take Rey’s place, creating an unexpected pairing with the new Women’s World Champion.
Vaquer and El Grande Americano win by disqualification
Stephanie Vaquer and El Grande Americano faced Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio in the first match of the evening. Americano started hot against Dominik, blasting him with a clothesline and unloading in the corner. When Vaquer and Morgan entered, Morgan briefly took control with a knee strike and a shotgun dropkick. With Dominik’s help, Morgan also sent Vaquer out to the floor before bringing the action back inside.
Morgan delivered The Three Amigos to Vaquer and tagged Dominik back into the bout. Americano answered when he returned to the ring, using a back body drop and another clothesline before landing a blockbuster from the middle rope. Dominik survived the pin attempt, and Morgan became a frequent distraction from ringside.
The heels maintained pressure through the break, with Morgan preventing Vaquer from receiving a tag. Americano eventually created room by planting Dominik with an Air Raid Crash. That led to Vaquer and Morgan re-entering the match, and Vaquer gained momentum with The Devil’s Kiss.
Morgan stopped Vaquer’s run with a codebreaker after Vaquer was distracted by Morgan embracing Dominik. The closing sequence saw the action break down around the ropes. Americano had Dominik positioned for a 619, only for Morgan to slap him. Vaquer responded by kicking Morgan into the middle rope, but the contest did not reach a decisive in-ring finish.
Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez appeared at ringside and attacked Vaquer, forcing the referee to call for the disqualification.

The post-match scene escalated the issue between Vaquer, Morgan, and their allies. Dominik dragged Rey Mysterio into the ring, only for El Grande Americano to intervene and take out Dominik. JD McDonagh then struck Americano with a surprise headbutt and followed with a top-rope moonsault.
Morgan dropped Vaquer with Oblivion, while Dominik went to the top rope and hit Rey with a Frog Splash. The attack ensured that Vaquer’s first Raw appearance following her championship win ended in chaos rather than celebration, while also leaving Rey caught directly in Dominik’s continued hostility toward his father.
Je’Von Evans captures a Money in the Bank spot
The first men’s Money in the Bank qualifier of the night brought together three very different competitors: Je’Von Evans, Big Cass, and Austin Theory, who was accompanied by Maxxine Dupri. Theory initially attempted to form an alliance with Cass to eliminate the explosive Evans, but Cass immediately rejected the idea by splashing Theory.
Evans used his quickness to keep both opponents off balance early. He attempted to wear Cass down with a sleeper, but the larger competitor powered him off. Evans then sent Cass into the corner and landed an open-hand strike before Cass tried to set him up for a powerbomb.
Evans escaped, sending Cass over the top rope to the floor. He then sent Theory over the barricade into the timekeeper’s area and took a lap around ringside, displaying the confidence that has defined many of his recent performances. Cass halted that momentum, intercepting Evans and chokeslamming him onto Theory in the timekeeper’s area.
The match became increasingly physical outside the ring as Cass used his size advantage against both rivals. He threw Theory into the barricade and continued to toss Evans around the ringside area. When the match returned to the ring, Evans fought back with strikes against Theory, but Cass repeatedly answered with punishing offense, including a big boot.
Theory found an opening against Cass, landing a sit-out powerbomb after getting the bigger man onto his shoulders. Evans immediately capitalized, crashing down on Theory with a Frog Splash. Dupri checked on Theory at ringside, but Evans kept pressing the action, flying over the top rope with a splash to take Theory down on the floor.
As the final stretch unfolded, each man came close to taking control. Cass planted Evans with East River Crossing and turned his attention toward Theory. Dupri pulled Theory out of the ring to prevent further damage, drawing Cass into a confrontation. Theory tried to steal an opening against Cass, but Cass sent him into the barricade instead.
Evans then launched himself through the ropes to take down Cass. Cass responded with a chokeslam onto the ring apron, a brutal moment that appeared to remove Evans from contention. Theory struck Cass and looked to take advantage, but Evans returned at the crucial moment. He sent Theory into Cass and connected with the OG Cutter on Cass to secure the decisive pinfall.

The victory makes Evans the latest confirmed entrant in the 2026 Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match. Bron Breakker had already qualified the previous week, defeating Ethan Page and AAA General Manager Rey Mysterio in another Triple Threat Match. Evans now joins Breakker in a field that will continue to take shape through the remaining qualifiers.
Money in the Bank races and title matches remain central
Raw’s women’s Money in the Bank qualification picture was also set to expand on the Mexico City episode. Women’s Intercontinental Champion Raquel Rodriguez was scheduled to meet Lola Vice and NXT Women’s Champion Kelani Jordan in a Triple Threat qualifier. Sol Ruca had previously become the first woman to qualify, defeating Maxxine Dupri and Lyra Valkyria the prior week.
On the championship front, Roman Reigns was slated for his first World Heavyweight Championship defense since retaining against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam Sunday on August 2. Penta’s tournament run positioned him for a major opportunity in Mexico City, where the challenger entered with momentum following wins over Laredo Kid, La Parka, and Rey Fenix.
Chad Gable was also scheduled to defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dragon Lee. Gable last retained the title on television against Rey Mysterio on August 17, while Lee earned his opportunity by defeating Ethan Page in a number one contender’s match on August 31.
