AEW WrestleDream 2026 gained two more championship matches in the aftermath of the October 10 Grand Slam France edition of AEW Collision.
AEW National Champion Andrade El Idolo will defend against Tommaso Ciampa after an eventful confrontation involving the champion’s open challenge. Meanwhile, Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron, collectively known as Wrathlander, have become the new number one contenders to the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship. They will challenge reigning titleholders The Brawling Birds at WrestleDream.
The additions bring the number of confirmed WrestleDream matches to seven. Every bout announced for the event at this stage will have a championship at stake, underscoring the title-heavy direction AEW has taken for the card.

Andrade El Idolo Retains, Then Meets Tommaso Ciampa
Andrade arrived at Grand Slam France with the AEW National Championship on the line against Michael Oku. The United Kingdom standout represented a significant test for the champion, but Andrade successfully retained the title and continued his reign.

Following the defense, Andrade made it clear that he was prepared to face another challenger. Addressing the locker room, he invited anyone to step forward and pursue the National Championship held by the “Real Latino Man.”
Tommaso Ciampa answered that invitation.
The exchange between the two did not remain verbal for long. Andrade initially caught Ciampa off guard by kissing him on the cheek, but Ciampa responded with a knee to the champion. The physical response established a clear issue between the two competitors and confirmed that Ciampa will be Andrade’s next title challenger at WrestleDream.
It is a high-profile matchup between two wrestlers whose styles should make for a volatile title fight. Andrade enters with momentum from a successful defense against Oku and with the confidence of a champion who openly asked for the next opponent. Ciampa, however, immediately showed he is not approaching the match with deference toward the titleholder.
The rivalry will receive an early in-ring preview on this week’s AEW Dynamite. Andrade will team with Will Ospreay against Ciampa and Samoa Joe in tag team action. That match places the National Champion and his challenger directly opposite one another before their WrestleDream collision, while also adding Ospreay and Joe to an already notable four-man encounter.
For Andrade, the tag match presents an opportunity to demonstrate that Ciampa’s attack did not alter his focus. For Ciampa, it offers a chance to further unsettle the champion and potentially gain valuable momentum before their championship meeting. With Ospreay and Joe involved, the match could also become difficult to control quickly, leaving both title rivals to navigate a situation where their WrestleDream issue is only one part of the equation.
Wrathlander Earns Women’s World Tag Team Title Opportunity
The second WrestleDream title match was decided in a three-way women’s tag team contest. The Brawling Birds watched from ringside as potential challengers battled for the right to face them for the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships.
Wrathlander, the pairing of Kris Statlander and Harley Cameron, faced Sisters of Sin and Divine Dominion in the number one contender’s match. With three teams involved, the contest offered a crowded and unpredictable route to the championship picture. Statlander and Cameron emerged with the victory, securing their place on the WrestleDream card.
The win gives Wrathlander a major opportunity against The Brawling Birds, who had a firsthand look at their newly confirmed challengers from ringside. The champions now know precisely who will be standing across from them at WrestleDream, while Statlander and Cameron can turn their full attention toward preparing for the title match.
There is added historical significance surrounding both members of the challenger team. Statlander continues pursuing the chance to become only the second AEW Women’s Triple Crown Champion. A Women’s World Tag Team Championship victory would be another crucial step in that objective.
Cameron has her own potential milestone in sight. If Wrathlander defeats The Brawling Birds, Cameron would become the first two-time holder of the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championships. That possibility gives the match stakes beyond the titles themselves, as the challengers have the opportunity to make individual history while establishing themselves as a team.
The result also reinforces the immediate impact of the Wrathlander alliance. Their win over Sisters of Sin and Divine Dominion was not merely a statement victory; it directly moved them to the front of the division’s title race. They have now earned the chance to prove they can translate that success into a championship reign.
Seven Championship Matches Confirmed for WrestleDream
With Andrade vs. Ciampa and The Brawling Birds vs. Wrathlander now official, AEW has confirmed seven WrestleDream matches. All seven are set to feature championships on the line.
At present, three AEW titles have not been assigned to the event: Persephone’s AEW TBS Championship, Darby Allin’s AEW TBT Championship, and Kazuchika Okada’s AEW International Championship. Their absence from the announced lineup does not mean their champions will necessarily be uninvolved as WrestleDream approaches.
Darby Allin and Kazuchika Okada are each scheduled to compete in title matches this Wednesday with a chance to qualify for the first-ever Clockwork Carnage match. Those upcoming bouts could have important consequences for the expanding WrestleDream picture, particularly if either champion earns entry into the newly introduced match.
The qualification stakes give Wednesday’s title action added importance. Allin and Okada already carry the responsibility of representing their respective championships, but the opportunity to advance toward Clockwork Carnage creates another major incentive. AEW has not yet filled in every detail of the WrestleDream card, leaving those matches as key developments to monitor.
A Title-Focused WrestleDream Takes Shape
The latest announcements give WrestleDream a stronger sense of direction. Andrade’s National Championship defense against Ciampa emerged from a direct open challenge and an immediate confrontation, while the Women’s World Tag Team Championship match was earned through a three-team contender’s bout. Both routes produced decisive outcomes on Grand Slam France.
Ciampa has already made his intentions clear through his attack on Andrade, ensuring that the National Title bout will not be a routine defense. On the women’s side, Wrathlander has positioned itself for a career-defining chance, with Statlander and Cameron each able to reach a notable milestone should they dethrone The Brawling Birds.
Before WrestleDream arrives, Andrade and Ciampa will share the ring in the Dynamite tag match featuring Ospreay and Samoa Joe. Elsewhere, the title matches involving Allin and Okada could affect the Clockwork Carnage field and further shape the event’s championship landscape.
For now, Andrade El Idolo has another challenger, The Brawling Birds have new opponents, and WrestleDream has added two more title matches with major individual and divisional implications.
