AEW President Tony Khan offered praise but no firm confirmation when asked about Mara Sade’s reported status with the company ahead of All Out, leaving open the possibility that the former WWE performer could be involved in the looming TBS Championship open challenge.
Sade, who previously wrestled in WWE as Jakara Jackson, has become a central subject of speculation after her official website briefly identified her as part of AEW. That reference was subsequently removed, but the situation has only increased attention around her next move. Reports have since indicated that Sade has agreed to a full-time deal with AEW, though Khan did not use the pre-All Out press conference to formally announce a signing or reveal creative plans for her.
Instead, Khan chose his words carefully while making clear that he holds Sade in high regard. His response did little to shut down the possibility of an AEW appearance, especially with a championship opportunity potentially available.
“Well, she’s a great young wrestler. We have not seen her in AEW to date, but she’s somebody that we’re definitely very familiar with for many reasons and is a tremendous young talent,” Khan said.

Khan then encouraged fans to continue watching the situation without committing to a debut at All Out or at any other specified event.

For a wrestler who has not yet appeared in AEW, even the wording that AEW is “definitely very familiar with” her carries significance, particularly when paired with the reported full-time agreement.
The brief AEW identification on Sade’s website provided the initial spark for the current wave of discussion. The later reports that she signed full-time with AEW further strengthened the belief that an appearance could be close, even if no official announcement has accompanied those reports.
A TBS Title Opportunity Creates A Natural Opening
Persephone’s open challenge for the AEW TBS Championship has become the obvious setting for a possible Sade debut. An open challenge creates an immediate route for a new or returning wrestler to enter a title picture, and it allows a company to create a memorable reveal without extensive advance promotion.
There are also defined limits on the pool of potential challengers. Thunder Rosa, Maya World, and Hyan cannot answer Persephone’s challenge. Still, the possibility of Sade appearing should not be treated as a confirmed outcome. Khan’s comments were deliberately noncommittal. They leave room for a debut, but they leave equal room for AEW to introduce her later, to have another wrestler accept the challenge, or to keep any agreement private until the company is ready to announce it.
Sade’s Recent TNA Wrestling History
Before the AEW reports and website listing, Sade had continued building visibility through TNA Wrestling. Her time there included an unusual transition period. She first appeared for TNA last March while she was still under WWE contract and competed under the Jakara Jackson name. A few months later, she returned to TNA as Mara Sade, establishing the name now attached to the AEW speculation.

If the reported AEW full-time deal is accurate, however, AEW would have secured a performer who had recently been visible to TNA audiences and who still carries recognition from her time in WWE as Jakara Jackson.
The TNA run also means Sade would not arrive in AEW as someone who has been absent from the ring for an extended period. She has continued competing and has experience working in the kind of televised, multi-promotion environment that can make a transition to a new roster smoother. Whether that translates into an immediate championship match remains unknown, but the open challenge gives AEW an especially straightforward way to present her.
What Sade Could Bring To AEW
Khan’s remarks centered on Sade’s potential. Calling her a “tremendous young talent” and a “compelling young prospect” suggests that AEW sees more than a one-night surprise in her. Those are the terms generally used for a wrestler a promotion believes can grow into a meaningful part of its roster, especially in a division where new matchups and fresh personalities can quickly alter the landscape.
A debut against Persephone would instantly define Sade’s arrival around the TBS Championship. Even in defeat, a strong first showing in a title match could establish her credibility and give AEW a foundation for future programs. A victory, on the other hand, would represent a far more dramatic statement and would immediately reshape the championship scene.
There is also value in patience. AEW may choose to introduce Sade outside the title match, allow her character and presentation to develop, and build toward a later challenge. Khan’s refusal to provide specifics keeps every one of those routes available. For now, the only confirmed aspect of his public position is that Sade has not appeared in AEW to date and that he considers her a wrestler worth watching.
All Out Could Provide Answers
The approaching All Out card gives the Sade discussion additional urgency. Championship open challenges are designed to create anticipation, and the list of unavailable AEW contenders has encouraged discussion about outside names and potential debuts.
