Seth Rollins is not putting a timetable on his return to WWE television.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion has been absent from WWE programming since SummerSlam, where he challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Title and came up short. While fans have continued to wait for the next chapter in Rollins’ career to begin on Monday Night Raw, Rollins made clear that he is taking a measured approach to his comeback.

During an appearance on ESPN Chicago, Rollins was asked whether he would be returning soon. His answer did not provide a date, but it did establish that he is not rushing back merely to satisfy the expectation of an immediate television appearance.

“I’ve been off television since SummerSlam, had a title match with Roman Reigns, lost that match. I’m just taking my time right now, kind of focusing on other things. At the end of the day, I’ll come back when the time is right.”

That statement leaves Rollins’ immediate WWE future open-ended. There is no announced return date, no confirmed opponent and no indication that he will appear on an upcoming episode of Raw. What is clear is that Rollins views his current time away as intentional, rather than presenting it as a departure from the company or a definitive end to his pursuit of championship opportunities.

Rollins Has Remained Active Away From WWE Television

Although Rollins has not appeared on WWE television since his defeat to Reigns at SummerSlam, he has not been entirely absent from the ring. He revealed that he recently traveled to South America for WWE’s non-televised live events.

Those appearances gave Rollins the chance to perform in front of an audience without advancing a weekly televised storyline. For a wrestler whose WWE run has been defined by major championship matches, prominent rivalries and a constant presence on Raw, the live-event appearances also demonstrated that his time off television has not meant a complete separation from the WWE audience.

Rollins spoke enthusiastically about the reception WWE received during the South American tour, highlighting both the crowds’ energy and the relative rarity of major wrestling events in the region.

“I was able to go down to South America a couple of weeks ago and do some non-televised events. Really fantastic crowds. Their passion for pro wrestling is unparalleled, and they’re not spoiled like the American crowds. They don’t get shows very often. It was special to be down there. Those fans showed up and showed out.”

Rollins’ comments underline the significance of WWE’s international live-event schedule. Television remains the central platform for major stories and title programs, but non-televised shows provide a different connection between performers and fans. In markets that do not regularly host WWE events, that connection can carry particular weight.

He also expressed hope that the response would encourage WWE to make more trips to South America in the future.

“I hope that was a sign to the higher-ups that we need to get back down there.”

For Rollins, the tour served as an opportunity to wrestle while remaining outside the weekly Raw spotlight. It also allowed him to directly recognize fans whose support may not always be reflected through the same level of regular television exposure received by audiences in the United States.

The SummerSlam Loss Remains Rollins’ Last Televised WWE Match

Rollins’ most recent televised WWE appearance came in a high-stakes setting. At SummerSlam, he faced Roman Reigns with the WWE World Heavyweight Title on the line. Rollins was unable to regain the championship, and he has not appeared on WWE television since.

The loss naturally positioned Rollins at a crossroads. A championship defeat can often lead in several directions: another pursuit of the title, a new rivalry, a reassessment of a wrestler’s place in the division, or a temporary step away before a fresh return. Rollins has not publicly identified which path he will take when he is back on Raw.

That uncertainty is central to the intrigue around his status. Rollins is not simply a wrestler returning after a brief stretch away from television. He is a former world champion whose last major televised moment was a failed effort to reclaim one of WWE’s top prizes. Whenever he returns, the result at SummerSlam will remain part of the context surrounding his next move.

At the same time, Rollins did not frame his absence as a period dedicated to chasing Reigns or immediately revisiting the title picture. Instead, he emphasized timing and other priorities outside of WWE television. That wording makes it premature to assume where he will fit into Raw’s competitive landscape upon his return.

No Return Date Has Been Announced

Fans hoping for a firm answer on Rollins’ next Raw appearance will have to continue waiting. Rollins specifically indicated that he could not provide that answer at this time.

“No, I wish I could.”

It is a short response, but an important one. Rollins did not tease a specific show, premium live event or upcoming WWE milestone. He also did not attach a condition to his return beyond the idea that it will happen when the moment is appropriate.

In WWE, an absence from weekly television can create questions quickly, particularly when it follows a major loss. However, Rollins’ recent live-event work confirms that he remains connected to WWE’s active touring schedule. His own comments further establish that he expects to return, even if he is not prepared to say precisely when that will happen.

Until WWE or Rollins provides a more specific update, the most accurate assessment is straightforward: Rollins is off television, he has recently competed at live events, and his Raw return remains unannounced.

Football Is Next on Rollins’ Schedule

While WWE fans wait for his next in-ring television appearance, Rollins has another media engagement lined up. He said that the next place fans can find him will be on NFL Network, where he will be discussing football.

“As for me and Monday Night Raw, the next time you can catch me will be on the NFL Network talking football.”

The appearance reflects Rollins’ focus on activities beyond WWE television during this stretch. It does not provide a clue about his next opponent or storyline, but it does offer viewers a chance to hear from him while his wrestling return remains pending.

Rollins has become one of WWE’s most recognizable active stars through his work in major matches and his sustained presence near the top of the card. That profile ensures that his eventual return will be closely watched, particularly after his SummerSlam defeat to Reigns. Still, Rollins is signaling that the return should happen on the right terms rather than on a publicly stated deadline.

For now, the former world champion is balancing non-televised WWE appearances, international crowd experiences and outside media commitments. The next chapter of his Raw career has yet to be announced. Rollins’ position, however, is clear: he intends to be back when he believes the timing is right.
