Carmelo Hayes has officially expanded the ranks of 946, and Royce Keys is making it clear that the move was not a spontaneous decision.

The October 12 edition of Monday Night Raw closed with a major development for the emerging WWE faction. Keys, Bronco Nima and Lucien Price faced Solo Sikoa, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso of The Bloodline in a six-man tag team match. The contest did not produce a winner, ending instead in a no-contest when the action broke down into a brawl. The show’s closing angle then brought the bigger revelation: Hayes had joined 946.

Hayes now stands alongside Keys, Price, Nima and Jaida Parker in the group. For Keys, the newest addition is more than simply another talented wrestler joining a unit that has already been receiving prominent attention. He sees Hayes as somebody with whom he already shares trust, familiarity and an understanding of the aggressive mentality 946 wants to present.

“Melo’s always been my boy. Before this even came up, before WWE. I know how he is. He’s just like a pit bull. He’s got a little Tyson in him that some people haven’t seen. The world got a taste of it (Monday) night, so it’s just one of those things that, you know, it’s like a pot of gumbo. You got all your ingredients and you’re seasoning it, and once it’s together, you know, it’s just a chef’s kiss.”

A familiar connection adds to 946’s foundation

Keys’ comments underline the personal connection behind Hayes’ arrival. Their relationship predates WWE, which gives the reveal a different dimension from a conventional alliance created solely through television circumstances. In Keys’ view, Hayes is someone whose temperament and competitive edge were already known to him well before the faction began to take shape.

That background matters because 946 has been built around the idea of unity and shared purpose rather than a loose collection of names. Adding a performer as established and as individually driven as Hayes could create obvious questions about balance within the group. Hayes has built his reputation around confidence, athleticism and a willingness to stand out. Yet Keys’ assessment suggests that those traits are exactly why Hayes belongs in 946, not reasons for him to be kept outside it.

The “pit bull” comparison offered by Keys is particularly revealing. He is not describing Hayes merely as a gifted athlete or a valuable strategic acquisition. He is emphasizing the intensity that Hayes can bring when aligned with the rest of the faction. Keys also referenced a side of Hayes that audiences may not have fully seen before, suggesting that the Raw closing angle was only an early indication of what this new presentation could become.

Hayes’ addition also gives 946 another major presence at a moment when the faction is already being placed in significant situations. A confrontation involving The Bloodline is not a minor stage. Solo Sikoa, Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso represent a formidable opposing trio, and the no-contest finish ensured that the conflict between the two sides ended Raw without resolution. Instead of closing the night with a clear winner, WWE used the brawl and Hayes’ reveal to make the confrontation feel larger than a single match result.

The Bloodline clash ends without a decision

Before Hayes was unveiled as the newest member, 946 and The Bloodline were locked in the six-man tag contest featuring Keys, Nima and Price against Sikoa and The Usos. With no-contest finishes, the official result leaves no side able to claim a clean victory. But in this instance, the chaos of the finish served a larger purpose.

The bout gave 946 another opportunity to operate in a high-profile setting, while The Bloodline remained positioned as a major obstacle. The subsequent brawl intensified that dynamic rather than settling it. More importantly, it created the opening for Hayes to enter the picture and shift the numbers and energy around 946.

Now that Hayes is part of the group, the equation surrounding future interactions has changed. Keys, Price and Nima had already been working as the male in-ring core seen in the Raw six-man tag. Parker was already part of 946’s broader identity. Hayes provides another active, high-level competitor whose presence can affect both matchups and confrontations involving the faction.

There is still uncertainty about exactly what comes next between 946 and The Bloodline. The October 12 encounter ended in disorder, not a definitive conclusion, and no further outcome can be assumed from the no-contest. What is clear is that Hayes’ reveal arrived at a meaningful point in the group’s direction. It was presented after 946 had been put opposite one of WWE’s most recognizable family alliances, making the announcement feel like a declaration of increased ambition.

Keys says every member was chosen deliberately

Keys also addressed the attention that 946 has received through its placement in major Raw segments. He described that visibility as a sign of trust and value, and he connected that responsibility to the collective work being done by every member.

“Just being featured on some of the heavy segments, you know, the trust and value, week after week, it means a lot. It definitely lets me know I’m doing the right thing. Everyone in The 946 — Jaida, Lucien, Bronco, Melo now — we’re all doing the right things. We’re all on the same page and everyone in this group is handpicked.”

The phrase “handpicked” stands out as the clearest explanation of 946’s internal philosophy. Keys did not frame Hayes as a temporary ally, an opportunistic recruit or an outsider who forced his way into the fold. He placed Hayes on the same level as Parker, Price and Nima, presenting each member as an intentional part of the group’s construction.

That is an important distinction for a faction still defining itself in front of the WWE audience. Groups often gain momentum because of numbers, but longevity usually depends on whether the members have a clear reason to stand together. Keys is presenting 946 as a unit built through selection and alignment. The message is that everyone involved is there because they fit the vision, and Hayes’ arrival is meant to reinforce rather than alter that vision.

Keys’ remarks also point to the importance of shared direction. He said the members are “all on the same page,” which becomes especially relevant with a roster that now includes personalities with distinct strengths. Parker brings her own presence to the faction, while Price and Nima have formed a key part of its physical makeup. Hayes arrives with a proven ability to draw attention and deliver under pressure. Keys remains the figure speaking most directly about the group’s identity and its plans.

Rather than treating those differences as potential fractures, 946 is presenting them as ingredients in a larger recipe. That is where Keys’ gumbo analogy comes into focus. In his description, the group is not complete because every member is identical. It comes together because each ingredient contributes to the finished product. Hayes is the latest ingredient, and Keys believes the timing is right for the mixture to become something stronger.

Hayes joins a faction with momentum

For Hayes, joining 946 represents a significant change in direction. His first appearance as part of the faction came in a closing Raw angle, a placement that immediately put emphasis on the move. Rather than quietly introducing the alliance in a backstage scene or a brief in-ring exchange, WWE attached the reveal to the fallout from a six-man tag involving The Bloodline.

That presentation gave Hayes’ decision immediate stakes. The group did not just add a name; it added Hayes amid a volatile confrontation with a powerful rival force. The no-contest did not resolve the fight, and that unresolved tension leaves 946’s next move especially important.

Keys has offered the first clear explanation of how he views the development: Hayes is a longtime associate, a fierce competitor and a specifically selected member of the team. Those comments establish the intended foundation for the alliance. The next chapter will show how that foundation holds up when 946’s growing confidence is tested in the ring.

For now, 946 exits the October 12 episode of Raw with more numbers, more attention and a sharper identity. Hayes’ arrival did not merely add another face to the group. In Keys’ words, it completed another part of a carefully assembled formula.
