Karmen Petrovic’s involvement with the revived Perros del Mal faction was not a last-minute development. The WWE talent has revealed that she was first approached about joining the group in November 2025, well before the stable made its eventual debut in Lucha Libre AAA in June 2026.

The reintroduced Perros del Mal arrived as a five-person unit consisting of Daga, Petrovic, Bronco Nima, Angel, and Berto. It immediately carried considerable significance because of the name’s standing within Mexican wrestling history. For Petrovic, the opportunity represented more than simply being added to a new group. It meant stepping into a role connected to an established legacy while preparing to perform before a Mexican audience for the first time.

Petrovic explained that the process took longer than she initially expected because there was care taken over finding the right moment to launch the faction.

“I was approached, I believe it was sometime last year actually. It was around maybe November time of last year. So they actually had plans to debut us a lot earlier but it was just about understanding when the best timeframe would be to debut, especially this faction that has so much history in Mexico and the legacy and everything around it so they wanted to make sure it was perfect.”

That timeline places the earliest discussions roughly seven months before the group’s June 2026 introduction. While Petrovic did not detail every version of the plans considered during that period, her comments make clear that the launch was deliberate. The concern was not merely assembling recognizable names, but determining when the new incarnation could arrive with the appropriate presentation and sense of occasion.

For any act using the Perros del Mal name, that level of attention is understandable. A faction with historic meaning cannot simply be treated as another collection of wrestlers placed together for convenience. The name comes with expectations from longtime AAA viewers, particularly those familiar with the identity and attitude associated with Perros del Mal. The new lineup therefore entered the promotion carrying both an opportunity and a responsibility.

A Long Wait Before the Debut

Petrovic acknowledged that patience was difficult while the group’s debut remained in the planning stage. She was aware of the size of the opportunity and eager to get in front of the audience, even as the eventual timing remained outside of her control.

“I guess the anticipation, the waiting was kind of driving me crazy too because I couldn’t wait. Oh my gosh, I don’t even know. I wanna say, like, outside of myself, outside my body with the opportunity, just knowing, especially everything that the faction holds and the amount of weight that would be on our shoulders. But it was more so excitement and I couldn’t wait to just get out there and be in front of the Mexican crowd as well because I never had the opportunity to do that before.”

The statement illustrates how seriously Petrovic viewed the assignment. She did not frame the group as a simple career detour or a temporary appearance. Instead, she recognized the importance of representing a faction with a meaningful place in Mexican wrestling and the pressure that accompanies being part of a revamped version.

There was also a personal milestone involved. Petrovic said she had never previously performed in front of a Mexican crowd. Joining Perros del Mal gave her a direct introduction to that audience in a role that was immediately prominent, rather than allowing her to gradually establish herself through isolated appearances.

That distinction matters. A wrestler’s first experience in a new market can shape the way fans view them for a long time, and Petrovic’s introduction was attached to a recognizable banner alongside established members of the AAA roster. Her role called for her to balance her individual identity with the collective image of the faction.

The Original Revived Lineup Has Already Changed

The Perros del Mal group that debuted in June was comprised of Daga, Petrovic, Bronco Nima, Angel, and Berto. However, the lineup has already shifted. Nima is no longer part of the faction after being kicked out of the group.

That change leaves Petrovic aligned with Daga, Angel, and Berto in the current version of Perros del Mal. The remaining group retains a major presence in AAA, especially because three of its members currently hold championship gold.

Daga, Angel, and Berto are the reigning AAA World Trios Champions. Their title reign gives the faction an immediate competitive foundation and ensures that Perros del Mal remains important to the promotion’s championship picture, not just its character-driven stories. While Petrovic is not one of the champions, her place in the unit connects her directly to one of AAA’s active title-holding combinations.

The champions are scheduled to defend the AAA World Trios Championship on October 24 at AAA Héroes Inmortales. The event will provide another notable showcase for the trio and, by extension, for the faction surrounding them. With Nima removed from the group, the appearance of the remaining members will also continue to define what the new Perros del Mal looks like after its first major internal change.

Petrovic’s Role in a Legacy Act

Petrovic’s comments underline the careful balance inherent in reviving a famous faction. The wrestlers in the new group have to create their own version of Perros del Mal while acknowledging the weight of the name. That is particularly relevant for a performer like Petrovic, whose excitement about appearing before Mexican fans was matched by an awareness of what the role required.

Her arrival in AAA through this group also gives her a specific purpose from the outset. Rather than entering without a defined direction, she was introduced as part of a central faction featuring Daga, Angel, and Berto. The association creates clear stakes around her appearances and situates her beside performers who have since become reigning trios champions.

At the same time, Petrovic’s perspective adds a human element to the long rollout. The plans may have existed since November 2025, but performers still had to wait while the presentation was refined. She described that period as frustrating in the sense that she was ready to seize the opportunity, yet she also expressed understanding about why the group needed the proper setting for its launch.

The eventual June 2026 debut ended that wait, but it did not end the process of defining the faction. Groups evolve through matches, rivalries, title pursuits, and internal conflicts. Perros del Mal has already experienced one lineup alteration with Nima’s expulsion. Meanwhile, the championship status of Daga, Angel, and Berto means the faction continues to operate with tangible momentum.

Focus Turns to Héroes Inmortales

AAA Héroes Inmortales on October 24 is the next major date for the reigning AAA World Trios Champions. Daga, Angel, and Berto will put their titles on the line, placing a crucial part of Perros del Mal’s current standing at risk.

For Petrovic, the road to this point began nearly a year before the faction ever appeared on screen. Her recollection of being approached in November 2025 provides new context for the group’s eventual debut, showing that its formation had been considered long before it became public. It also explains why the debut was treated as a significant moment rather than a sudden roster combination.

The group’s future will continue to be shaped by the performances of its remaining members, the repercussions of Nima’s departure, and the trios championship defense at Héroes Inmortales. But Petrovic’s account makes one point clear: the revived Perros del Mal was built with time, anticipation, and an understanding of the history attached to its name.
