Joe Hendry’s recognizable presentation is built around a simple but unmistakable look: a blue shirt and white trousers. It is the kind of gear that immediately connects him to the audience and complements the larger-than-life personality he brings to WWE television. But even the most familiar ring attire can become a problem when it does not make the trip.
During a recent appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Hendry recalled finding himself without those key pieces of clothing while WWE was traveling internationally. With limited opportunities to shop while moving from country to country, Hendry said he was increasingly concerned that he would not have the wardrobe needed for his appearances. The situation was ultimately resolved through the generosity of Penta, who arranged for a blue shirt and white trousers to be waiting for Hendry when the tour reached Mexico.
More than just a story about missing luggage or a packing mistake, Hendry used the moment to spotlight the sense of community he has experienced in the WWE locker room. He singled out Penta not only as an elite in-ring talent, but as someone who made a meaningful effort to help a fellow performer in need.
A stressful search during WWE’s international dates
Hendry explained that the blue shirt and white trousers are among the first items he would expect to have with him on any WWE trip. Nevertheless, he said both pieces were somehow absent from his case. That left him trying to solve the problem during a demanding international run rather than from the comfort of home.

“If you’re me, what’s the couple of things you don’t want to leave home without? It’s the blue shirt and the white trousers, which for some reason didn’t make it into my case,” Hendry said.
He described being in a state of panic as he looked ahead at the travel schedule. Hendry said Argentina was the only stop where he believed he would have a chance to leave and find suitable replacements. The trip out to shop came at an already difficult time for him, as he said the black eyes he had were much more noticeable then and that he had not shaved.
Hendry painted an awkward picture of trying to navigate an unfamiliar city without speaking the language while searching for clothing that had to fit a very specific visual purpose. A blue shirt and white trousers may sound easy enough to locate in a general sense, but finding items that are stage-ready, properly fitted and appropriate for a WWE television appearance is a different challenge altogether.
Despite his efforts in Argentina, Hendry said he was unable to find what he needed. With Mexico still ahead on the itinerary, he turned to someone he knew could help.
Penta steps in before WWE arrives in Mexico
Hendry said he approached Penta directly and asked where he might be able to purchase the clothes once WWE arrived in Mexico. Penta’s response was decisive: Hendry would not need to worry about it.
“So I knew we were going to Mexico, and I just said, ‘I am stuck. Can you help me? Where can I go in Mexico?’ He says, ‘It’s taken care of,’” Hendry recalled.
When Hendry reached the venue in Mexico, Penta had already arranged everything. The clothing was not merely an acceptable substitute for Hendry’s usual attire. Hendry said the shirt and trousers were better than the versions he had been wearing on television.
“I’m telling you, I got to that venue, and he had this. It’s better than the ones I’m using on TV. Had this beautiful blue shirt, perfect. He’s a fashionable guy. Beautiful white trousers,” Hendry said.
The gesture went beyond Penta simply offering directions to a store or lending Hendry an item from his own wardrobe. Hendry said Penta’s daughter went out and helped obtain the shirt and trousers. When Hendry attempted to find out what the items cost so he could repay Penta, he was told that there would be no payment required.
“Then I said, ‘How much did it cost?’ And he went, ‘No, it’s a gift from my family,’” Hendry said.
That response clearly stayed with Hendry. He framed the story as a personal example of the camaraderie that exists among WWE talent, particularly during tours that can require performers to constantly adapt to travel issues, unfamiliar locations and rapidly changing schedules.
Hendry highlights the value of locker-room camaraderie
Professional wrestling is often discussed through the lens of competition. WWE Superstars compete for championships, television time, major premium live event opportunities and the confidence of audiences around the world. Yet the day-to-day reality of a locker room also requires cooperation, especially on international tours where the entire roster is operating far from its usual routines.
Hendry made a point of saying that Penta’s assistance represented more than a one-off favor. In his view, it reflected the quality of people around him in WWE. He spoke warmly about the support he has felt over the previous weeks and used the interview to publicly give Penta credit.
“I just wanted to mention that because that’s just like one example of some of the great people that we have in our locker room,” Hendry said. “They just had that unbelievable match on Raw, him and Roman. I just wanted to take a second to say that about Penta. Fantastic performer, great human being.”
The praise carries extra weight because it came alongside Hendry’s acknowledgment of Penta’s current momentum as a performer. Penta has earned a reputation as one of wrestling’s most dynamic and visually distinctive competitors, and Hendry’s story added a different side to that image: someone willing to handle a colleague’s problem personally and without seeking anything in return.
For Hendry, the gift also protected a major part of his own WWE identity. Ring gear is not incidental in professional wrestling. Colors, clothing, entrance mannerisms and presentation all help make a character instantly recognizable. Hendry’s blue-and-white combination is closely associated with the persona fans expect to see when he appears. Having the right attire ready for a WWE event helped preserve that visual continuity at a time when he was already facing the pressures of international travel.
Penta’s major night on Raw in Mexico
Hendry referenced Penta’s high-profile Raw main event in Mexico, where Penta challenged Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Title. The match placed Penta in one of the biggest possible positions on the show: opposite Reigns, competing for a world championship in front of a Mexican crowd.
That setting was particularly significant for Penta. Performing in Mexico has an added meaning for a wrestler whose identity, style and connection with audiences have been shaped by lucha libre. A Raw main event against Roman Reigns offered him a major spotlight, while the championship stakes reinforced his standing near the top of WWE’s competitive landscape.
Hendry’s comments came with Penta’s prominent Raw performance fresh in mind. Rather than focusing solely on that match or Penta’s accomplishments inside the ring, however, Hendry wanted to direct attention to the kindness Penta and his family showed away from the cameras.
It is an example of the human side of WWE’s touring environment. Fans see the entrances, matches and championship celebrations. They do not always see the practical problems that emerge behind the scenes, from travel disruptions to missing gear. In this case, a wrestler’s wardrobe issue became an opportunity for a colleague to show generosity.
A memorable gesture with a practical impact
Hendry’s story is likely to resonate because it is so grounded in the realities of life on the road. There was no elaborate angle or public spectacle involved. He needed clothing for his established presentation, could not find it on his own during the tour, and Penta made sure the problem disappeared before the next major stop.
The details also make the gesture especially personal. Penta did not just point Hendry toward a solution; he and his family made the solution happen. The result was a set of attire Hendry felt was even stronger than what he had previously been using on television.
As Hendry continues his WWE journey, the blue shirt and white trousers will remain familiar components of his presentation. Thanks to Penta’s help in Mexico, the wardrobe emergency became a positive memory instead of a major disruption. It also gave Hendry a chance to publicly recognize Penta as both a standout WWE performer and, in Hendry’s words, a “great human being.”
