Westside Xtreme Wrestling opened its wXw Pro-Wrestling Grand Prix 2026 on September 25 at the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen, Germany, with a packed first-day card built around multiple tournament brackets. The show established early momentum in the König Der Catcher field while also beginning the World Tag Team Tournament and the Femmes Fatales tournament.

Eight matches were held across the three competitions, with the opening König Der Catcher results putting four wrestlers on the board with two points apiece. Axel Tischer, Peter Tihanyi and Thomas Shire emerged victorious in Block B, while Katsuhiko Nakajima collected the first two points in Block A.

The tag team side saw Greedy Souls and Hyperactive move through the opening round, while Chihiro Hashimoto and Kay Lee Ray advanced in the Femmes Fatales bracket. With tournament points and elimination matches both in play, Day 1 gave the Grand Prix an immediate series of consequential results rather than a simple opening-night showcase.

König Der Catcher: Block B begins with three winners

Block B accounted for three of the four König Der Catcher matches on the card, and each winner left Oberhausen with two points. Axel Tischer defeated Elijah Blum in one of the night’s opening tournament contests, putting Tischer at 2 points and leaving Blum at 0.

Peter Tihanyi also began his campaign successfully, defeating Dieter Schwartz. Tihanyi now holds two points in the group, while Schwartz remains scoreless after the first round of action.

The third Block B match saw Thomas Shire defeat 1 Called Manders. Shire likewise starts with two points, and Manders is at zero following the loss. Those three results mean Tischer, Tihanyi and Shire are all level at the top of the block following the first day, with Blum, Schwartz and Manders still looking for their first points.

That early tie creates a clear competitive picture for the remainder of the block. Tischer, Tihanyi and Shire have each done what was required in their opening bouts, but none has separated from the field yet. At the same time, the three wrestlers on zero points have little margin for error as the schedule continues. A single win can quickly change the standings in a points-based tournament, but a second defeat would place far greater pressure on any competitor’s path forward.

Nakajima takes the first Block A victory

Block A was represented by one match on Day 1, as Katsuhiko Nakajima defeated Dennis Dullnig. Nakajima receives two points for the victory, while Dullnig begins at zero.

The result gives Nakajima the early numerical advantage from the Block A action held in Oberhausen. As more of the block’s matches take place, the opening win will serve as an important foundation for his tournament position. Dullnig, meanwhile, will need to recover in his next outing to avoid falling further behind the early pace.

With the Grand Prix format placing value on every result, the opening-night outcomes are about more than individual victories. The points reflect where each competitor stands as the tournament develops, and the difference between two points and none can become increasingly meaningful once the field has multiple matches behind it.

Greedy Souls and Hyperactive move on in tag tournament

The World Tag Team Tournament began with two opening-round matches. Greedy Souls, the team of Brendan White and Danny Jones, defeated Quick & Dirty, Hugo Brand and Niklas Bock, to advance.

White and Jones are therefore through to the next stage, while Brand and Bock’s run in the opening-round matchup came to an end. The victory gives Greedy Souls a place among the teams that will continue competing for the tournament’s eventual prize.

Hyperactive also advanced from the opening round. Anita Vaughan and Safire Reed defeated BestBros, Baliyan Akki and Mei Suruga, in the second tag tournament match of the night.

Vaughan and Reed now move ahead in the bracket, while Akki and Suruga were eliminated from this portion of the Grand Prix. The result places Hyperactive alongside Greedy Souls as the first two teams confirmed to have survived the initial round.

The tag tournament’s opening results underline the range of the Grand Prix card. While König Der Catcher competitors are pursuing points over the course of a block format, the World Tag Team Tournament is immediately unforgiving. There is no opportunity to make up ground after an opening-round loss; the winning team advances and the losing pairing is out of the bracket.

Hashimoto and Kay Lee Ray advance in Femmes Fatales

The Femmes Fatales tournament also got underway with two opening-round singles matches. Chihiro Hashimoto defeated Manami to earn her place in the next round.

Hashimoto’s win makes her one of the first confirmed entrants to advance in the women’s tournament. Manami, despite entering the opening round, does not move forward after the defeat.

Kay Lee Ray joined Hashimoto in the next stage by defeating Stephanie Maze. The result advances Kay Lee Ray and ends Maze’s tournament run in the first round.

As with the tag bracket, the Femmes Fatales matches carried immediate elimination stakes. Hashimoto and Kay Lee Ray have taken the first available steps forward, and their victories narrow the field as the tournament proceeds beyond its opening night.

A tournament-heavy opening night in Oberhausen

The September 25 event was structured to establish several stories at once. König Der Catcher delivered four point-bearing matches, with the winners beginning their campaigns at two points. The World Tag Team Tournament reduced its field through a pair of opening-round decisions, and Femmes Fatales did the same in its own first-round contests.

For the competitors who won their König Der Catcher matches, Day 1 provided valuable early positioning but not final security. Axel Tischer, Peter Tihanyi, Thomas Shire and Katsuhiko Nakajima each leave the first show with points on the board. Their opponents—Elijah Blum, Dieter Schwartz, 1 Called Manders and Dennis Dullnig—will be seeking a response when they next compete.

In the elimination brackets, Greedy Souls, Hyperactive, Chihiro Hashimoto and Kay Lee Ray can focus on their next tournament assignments after clearing the opening hurdle. Quick & Dirty, BestBros, Manami and Stephanie Maze were unable to advance on this occasion.

The Grand Prix’s first day therefore produced no shortage of movement. Three Block B wrestlers share the lead at two points, Nakajima has started Block A with a win, two tag teams have progressed, and two Femmes Fatales competitors have moved through their opening matches. The tournament picture is only beginning to take shape, but the foundation was set at Turbinenhalle.
