WWE NXT presented a live event on October 2 at The Armory in Jacksonville, Florida, with championship matches anchoring a card that featured appearances from a number of developing names across the brand. The show was headlined by Jackson Drake, who successfully defended the NXT North American Championship against Tavion Heights.

Drake’s title defense brought the Jacksonville card to a close and ensured that the NXT North American Championship remained with the reigning champion after Heights’ challenge. The result was one of three championship outcomes on the evening, as The Vanity Project retained the NXT Tag Team Championship and Harlem Lewis kept hold of the WWE EVOLE Championship.

Live events can offer a different setting from NXT’s televised programming, but the results in Jacksonville still placed an emphasis on the brand’s active titleholders. Drake, The Vanity Project and Lewis all entered their respective matches as champions and left The Armory with their championships intact.

Jackson Drake Defeats Tavion Heights

The final match saw Jackson Drake defend the NXT North American Championship against Tavion Heights. Heights was unable to take the title from Drake, who earned the victory to retain.

The North American Championship has long been positioned as a significant prize within NXT, and the Jacksonville result added another successful defense to Drake’s reign. Heights had the opportunity to close the show with a championship change, but Drake prevailed in the main event.

No additional details regarding the match finish were announced with the results. What is clear is that Drake remained champion following a competitive challenge from Heights, leaving the live event with the title still in his possession.

The Vanity Project Retains NXT Tag Team Gold

Earlier on the card, The Vanity Project—Brad Baylor and Ricky Smokes—defended the NXT Tag Team Championships against Jax Presley and Harley Riggins. Baylor and Smokes retained their titles, turning back the challengers in one of the show’s featured bouts.

The result continued a successful night for NXT’s champions. Presley and Riggins were unable to capitalize on their title opportunity, while Baylor and Smokes kept the tag team championship picture under The Vanity Project’s control.

With the champions retaining in Jacksonville, there was no shakeup at the top of the NXT tag team division coming out of the live event. The result also made the title match one of the key stops on a card that mixed championship wrestling with singles and tag team action involving emerging competitors.

Harlem Lewis Successfully Defends WWE EVOLE Championship

Harlem Lewis also recorded a championship victory, defeating Brooks Jensen to retain the WWE EVOLE Championship. Jensen entered the bout looking to unseat Lewis, but the champion secured the win and kept his title.

The championship defense was another notable match on an event that featured multiple title bouts rather than a single championship main event. Lewis’ win over Jensen meant all three listed champions who competed in Jacksonville successfully defended their respective championships.

As with the other title matches, the available results did not provide details on the closing sequence or match length. The central outcome, however, was decisive: Lewis defeated Jensen and remained WWE EVOLE Champion.

Tristan Angels Introduces Niko Vance

One of the night’s non-wrestling developments came when Tristan Angels introduced his new bodyguard, Niko Vance. The introduction led directly into a tag team match, with Angels and Vance teaming against Saquon Shugars and Shawn Spears.

Shugars and Spears defeated Angels and Vance. The loss came on Vance’s first listed appearance alongside Angels following the bodyguard introduction, giving the new pairing an immediate setback in Jacksonville.

Even so, the appearance established Angels and Vance as an on-screen alliance at the live event. Spears and Shugars emerged with the victory, while Angels’ decision to bring Vance into his corner became one of the more notable character developments from the show.

Singles Matches Fill Out Jacksonville Card

The October 2 event also included several singles bouts featuring NXT talent. Shiloh Hill defeated Kale Dixon, while Alix Brooks earned a victory over Kenzie. Myka Lockwood defeated Zoe Hines, and Kali Armstrong won against Skylar Rae.

Chantel Monroe also picked up a singles victory, defeating Andi Summers. Those matches helped round out a card that gave a variety of performers opportunities to compete outside of the evening’s title contests.

For Hill, Brooks, Lockwood, Armstrong and Monroe, the Jacksonville event ended with their hands raised. Dixon, Kenzie, Hines, Rae and Summers each came up short, but the results reflected the depth of the live-event lineup and the broad collection of names used throughout the night.

A Championship-Focused Night for NXT

The Jacksonville live event was ultimately defined by title stability. Drake’s win over Heights in the main event kept the NXT North American Championship with the champion, while The Vanity Project and Lewis likewise held onto their gold. Three championship matches took place, and none produced a new champion.

That consistency gave the card a clear through line from top to bottom. The live audience saw the North American Championship defended in the closing match, the tag team titles put on the line in a featured matchup, and the WWE EVOLE Championship contested between Lewis and Jensen. Every champion met the challenge placed in front of them.

Away from the championship picture, Angels’ introduction of Vance gave the evening a storyline-related moment before their tag team loss to Spears and Shugars. The rest of the show was built around victories for Hill, Brooks, Lockwood, Monroe and Armstrong, providing a full slate of results at The Armory.

Jacksonville’s October 2 card did not feature a championship change, but it did provide successful defenses for NXT’s active titleholders and a main-event victory for Drake over Heights. The North American Champion left The Armory having turned away another challenger, closing an event in which the champions stood tall.
