Enzo Amore may be on the verge of a WWE comeback, with a new report indicating there is belief that the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion has signed with the company within the past week.
The situation has not been officially confirmed by WWE or Amore, and the report stressed that confirmation of his status is still being pursued. However, one person familiar with the matter reportedly believes Amore could be headed to WWE NXT if and when his return becomes public.
Such a move would mark Amore’s first time back under the WWE umbrella since 2018. It would also reunite him with the company at a time when his longtime former tag team partner, Big Cass, has already returned to WWE television as a heel singles performer on WWE Raw.
A Potential Return Years In The Making
Speculation surrounding Amore’s WWE future has circulated for months. He was reported to have visited the WWE Performance Center in May, creating immediate discussion about whether the appearance could lead to a more formal relationship with the company.

That visit came before Big Cass returned to WWE following his departure from AEW. Cass made his WWE comeback on the episode of Raw that followed SummerSlam in August, arriving without Amore and moving directly into a singles role. His presentation has not included an on-screen acknowledgment of his former partner, and there has been no indication on television that WWE is actively building toward a reunion of the two acts.
Before Cass re-emerged, it had been believed that WWE was waiting for him to re-sign before bringing Amore back into the fold. Cass’ return did not immediately result in an Amore appearance, but the latest update suggests the former Cruiserweight Champion’s status may now have changed behind the scenes.
Whether an agreement is ultimately confirmed, and whether NXT is indeed the destination, are the major remaining questions. WWE has used NXT in recent years as both a developmental environment and a platform for established names who are being reintroduced to the company. That could make the brand a logical place for Amore to re-enter the system, particularly if WWE wants to gauge audience response before deciding on a larger role.
Why NXT Could Be A Natural Landing Spot
Amore’s greatest strengths during his original WWE run were his verbal presence, distinctive character work and ability to draw a crowd into his entrances and promos. He developed a highly recognizable act alongside Cass, first in NXT and later on the main roster, where their catchphrases and high-energy introductions routinely generated some of the loudest crowd reactions of the night.
A return to NXT would therefore carry some historical symmetry. It was in NXT that Enzo and Cass first became one of WWE’s most popular tag team acts despite never winning the NXT Tag Team Championship. Their connection with the audience helped turn them into major attractions, and their move to the main roster in 2016 was met with significant anticipation.
At the same time, a modern NXT run would be considerably different from the landscape Amore left behind. The brand has changed dramatically over the years, with a new generation of talent occupying the roster and WWE’s presentation of NXT continuing to evolve. Amore would be returning to an environment full of performers with whom he has little or no established on-screen history.
That creates several possible directions should he appear. WWE could present him as a standalone personality, allow him to develop new rivalries, or eventually revisit elements of his past association with Cass. At present, though, there is no confirmed creative plan, no announced debut date and no confirmation that a reunion is even under consideration.
The Enzo And Cass Legacy
Enzo Amore and Big Cass were among the most identifiable teams of their era. Their act centered on Amore’s fast-paced promo style and Cass’ imposing physical presence, a contrast that made the pairing immediately memorable. Together, they built momentum in NXT before becoming regular fixtures on WWE’s main roster.
After the team split, Amore moved into the cruiserweight division and became a two-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion. His character remained heavily centered on microphone work, arrogance and crowd interaction, while Cass pursued a singles path of his own.
The pair’s original WWE run ended in separate circumstances in 2018. Amore departed WWE in January of that year following an allegation of sexual assault. An investigation followed, and no charges were filed. Cass subsequently left the company in June 2018.
In the years since, both wrestlers have spent time away from WWE while pursuing different paths. Cass eventually returned to national television through AEW before later making his way back to WWE. Amore, meanwhile, remained active outside the company under names including Real1 and nZo.
Amore Has Continued Wrestling Independently
Amore has not been entirely absent from the ring during his time away from WWE. He has continued to work on the independent wrestling scene, including three matches in October.
His most recent match came on October 24 at World Classic Professional Big Time Wrestling’s Slam-O-Ween event. Amore defeated Nate Mattson in that bout, giving him a victory in his latest recorded appearance before the report concerning a potential WWE agreement emerged.
That continued ring activity could be relevant if he is preparing for a return to a major promotion. While working independent dates is not the same as competing in WWE’s full-time schedule, it has allowed Amore to remain connected to the in-ring side of the industry. Any WWE return would still bring a different level of preparation, with the Performance Center offering a setting for physical evaluation, ring work and adjustment to WWE’s current expectations.
The reported Performance Center visit in May may take on added significance if a signing is confirmed. Wrestlers can visit WWE facilities for a variety of reasons, so the trip alone did not establish that a deal was imminent. In light of the newest report, however, it stands as a notable part of the timeline surrounding the speculation.
No Official Announcement Yet
For now, the key word is belief, rather than confirmation. The report indicates that Amore may have signed over the past week, but it also makes clear that verification of an official WWE return remains outstanding.
That distinction matters. Until WWE acknowledges a contract, Amore appears on a WWE program, or the wrestler addresses the matter himself, the precise nature of the arrangement is not known. It is also unclear whether any potential deal would immediately place him on NXT television, keep him training at the Performance Center before a debut, or involve another role entirely.
There is likewise no evidence yet that Amore would be aligned with Cass upon returning. Cass’ current WWE presentation has established him as a heel singles competitor, and Amore’s potential NXT destination would put the two on different brands. WWE could ultimately choose to connect their histories, but no such storyline has been announced.
Still, the possibility of Amore rejoining WWE is notable because of the attention his name has continued to generate long after his departure. A confirmed return would provide WWE with an instantly recognizable personality, while also reopening questions about how much of the old Enzo and Cass formula could translate to the current company landscape.
Until more becomes clear, Amore’s reported status remains one of the more intriguing unresolved WWE developments. The former champion has continued to compete independently, Cass is already back on Raw, and the possibility of an NXT stop could soon place another familiar name back in the WWE system.
