C4 Wrestling presented For The Love Of The Game on September 18 at the Preston Event Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, with a card that brought several of the promotion’s championships into focus. The event ended with a title change in the women’s division, while Vaughn Vertigo and Sheldon Jean successfully defended the C4 Underground Championship and Men’s C4 Championship, respectively.

Kristara emerged as the new Women’s C4 Champion by defeating Alexia Nicole, ending Nicole’s reign in the night’s championship main event. Elsewhere, Vertigo overcame EFFY to remain C4 Underground Champion, and Jean survived a six-person 6×30 Scramble Match to retain the Men’s C4 Championship against Gabriel Fuerza, Junior Benito, James Stone, Macrae Martin, and Mathieu St. Jacques.

The show also established a future challenger in the women’s title picture. Dreya Mitchell defeated Layla Wilde and Jody Threat in a three-way Women’s C4 Championship number one contenders match. With Kristara now holding the championship after defeating Alexia Nicole later on the card, Mitchell’s victory gives the division a clear result to follow in the aftermath of the event.

Kristara Captures the Women’s C4 Championship

The most consequential result from For The Love Of The Game came when Kristara defeated Alexia Nicole to win the Women’s C4 Championship. Nicole entered the match as champion, but Kristara left Ottawa with the title, marking a change at the top of the division.

The result arrived after the number one contenders match earlier in the evening, where Dreya Mitchell scored a win over both Layla Wilde and Jody Threat. That contest carried major implications regardless of who left the later title match as champion. Kristara’s victory means the newly crowned champion now has an established contender waiting in the wings, while Alexia Nicole will look to respond after losing the championship.

Mitchell’s win over Wilde and Threat was one of several multi-competitor bouts on the card. The victory placed her ahead of two notable opponents in a match specifically designed to determine the next challenger. As a result, C4 Wrestling left the event with both a new Women’s C4 Champion and a definitive number one contender.

Vaughn Vertigo Retains Against EFFY

Vaughn Vertigo continued his run as C4 Underground Champion with a successful defense over EFFY. The championship match pitted the reigning titleholder against EFFY in a prominent singles encounter, and Vertigo retained the championship.

With the win, Vertigo remains the standard-bearer of the Underground division coming out of the September 18 event. EFFY was unable to take the title from the champion, leaving Vertigo’s reign intact as C4 Wrestling moves forward from Ottawa.

The result was one of two successful championship defenses on the main card. While the Women’s C4 Championship changed hands, the Underground title remained with its existing champion. That contrast helped shape a show in which C4’s title landscape saw both continuity and change.

Sheldon Jean Outlasts Five Challengers

Sheldon Jean also retained his championship, defeating five challengers in the Men’s C4 Championship 6×30 Scramble Match. Jean entered as champion and overcame Gabriel Fuerza, Junior Benito, James Stone, Macrae Martin, and Mathieu St. Jacques to keep the title.

The match represented the largest championship field of the night, with six wrestlers involved in the contest. Jean’s retention came against a varied group of challengers, all of whom entered with an opportunity to leave as Men’s C4 Champion. Instead, the reigning champion successfully navigated the match and preserved his place atop the men’s title picture.

Jean’s result, alongside Vertigo’s victory over EFFY, meant two male singles champions successfully defended their respective titles at For The Love Of The Game. Kristara’s win over Alexia Nicole ensured that the night was not without a championship shake-up, but Jean’s ability to prevail in the scramble kept the Men’s C4 Championship stable.

Multi-Team Matches Fill Out the Card

A major portion of the event featured a large multi-team match involving eight teams and a collection of C4 regulars. Project 8100, consisting of Dexter Doom and Haddy, joined forces with Locked And Loaded’s Mark Wheeler and Jessie V, as well as Jonny DeLuca, to defeat Northern Thunder, Space Sluts, PUF, Violence Is Forever, and Mano Po.

The defeated side included Northern Thunder’s London Lightning and Storm Ryder; Space Sluts members Cecil Nyx and Xander Orion; PUF; Violence Is Forever’s Dominic Garrini and Kevin Ku; and Mano Po’s Kuya Cole and Teo Dakila. The winning grouping featured Project 8100, Locked And Loaded, and DeLuca, who collectively earned the victory over a deep field.

The match underscored the breadth of the card, which mixed championship bouts with singles competition and heavily populated tag-team action. The field brought together established duos and individual competitors in one of the event’s most crowded contests, with the combination of Doom, Haddy, Wheeler, Jessie V, and DeLuca coming out on top.

Stu Grayson, The Blade and KJ Swayde Pick Up Wins

Outside of the title matches, several notable singles bouts added to the event’s results. Stu Grayson defeated Marcus Mathers, securing a victory over one of the card’s featured opponents. Grayson’s win was one of the key non-title results from the main show.

The Blade also earned a singles victory, defeating Joey Janela. The bout brought together two recognizable names on the C4 card, with The Blade emerging victorious over Janela.

On the pre-show, KJ Swayde defeated Devious Cass, Shimbashi, and Juni Underwood in a four-way match. The pre-show result gave Swayde an early event victory over three opponents before the main card moved into its championship and multi-team matches.

Across the card, C4 Wrestling presented a mixture of singles, multi-person, and title competition. The results produced wins for Swayde, Vertigo, Mitchell, the combined Project 8100/Locked And Loaded/DeLuca side, Grayson, The Blade, Jean, and Kristara.
