Bronson Reed has competed against a wide range of elite talent during his career, from major WWE headliners to internationally acclaimed opponents. That experience has given the powerhouse a strong perspective on what separates a physical wrestler from one who simply looks imposing. When asked to name the hardest-hitting performers he has shared the ring with, Reed pointed to three very different WWE Superstars: his tag partner Bron Breakker, former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther, and WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.

Reed’s selections underline the many forms that physicality can take in professional wrestling. Breakker brings explosive athletic force and a devastating spear. Gunther has built much of his reputation on punishing strikes and relentless intensity. Mysterio, meanwhile, is one of the most celebrated high-flyers in WWE history and is typically recognized for speed, innovation and resilience rather than raw power. Reed made clear that Mysterio’s size should not mislead anyone who has stood across the ring from him.

Speaking ahead of WWE Money in the Bank, Reed was asked about the hardest-hitting wrestlers he has encountered. He began by identifying Breakker, while also noting that the two have not wrestled one another because they are currently aligned as tag team partners.

“I’ll say from personal experience, I haven’t actually wrestled him because he’s my tag partner. But I watch him on a weekly basis beat people up. I’d say Bron Breakker has to be one of the hardest-hitting superstars for sure.”

That answer reflects the reputation Breakker has developed since arriving on WWE television. His combination of speed, strength and intensity has made him one of the company’s most dangerous young stars. A spear from Breakker is presented as a match-changing weapon, but Reed’s comments suggest that it is not merely presentation. Watching his partner attack opponents week after week has convinced Reed that Breakker belongs among WWE’s most physical competitors.

Reed then named Gunther, a choice that will surprise very few viewers who have watched the Austrian star’s rise. Gunther’s matches are often built around his ability to control an opponent with blunt offense, particularly his famously loud and stinging chops. His physical style has remained central whether he is wrestling a fast-paced challenger, a fellow heavyweight or a competitor attempting to survive a longer championship-level encounter.

“Gunther is up there. Gunther is chopped and the intensity that he brings is 100% like nothing else.”

Although the phrasing was brief, Reed’s point was unmistakable: Gunther’s offense is tied to the force and conviction behind it. The chops are a visible and audible part of that identity, but Reed also emphasized the intensity Gunther brings to every exchange. That intensity has long helped Gunther’s matches feel like hard-fought battles rather than routine contests, and it is a quality that fellow wrestlers clearly recognize.

The most unexpected name on Reed’s list was Mysterio. Mysterio’s legacy has been defined by his revolutionary aerial style, his ability to create momentum from almost any position and his influence on generations of smaller wrestlers who followed him. Yet Reed said the veteran delivers his punches with enough force to catch opponents off guard.

“As for a third, I want to say someone that you might not think is a hard hitting superstar but they are, and that’s Rey Mysterio. For as small as he is and the way that he can move around and stuff, he still brings every one of those punches as hard as he can, so it sort of shocks you that you’re like, oh my god. This little guy’s beating the hell out of me. So I want to say those three.”

It is significant praise coming from Reed, who is himself one of WWE’s most imposing athletes. His size and power allow him to absorb and deliver offense on a scale few performers can match. For Reed to single out Mysterio as someone whose strikes are startlingly effective speaks to the Hall of Famer’s commitment to making every movement count.

Rey Mysterio’s Physicality Goes Beyond His Size

Mysterio has spent decades overcoming assumptions based on his stature. Opponents have frequently underestimated him only to discover that his speed, timing and precision make him extremely difficult to contain. The same applies to the striking element Reed described. A punch or kick does not need to come from the largest wrestler in the match to have impact, particularly when it is delivered with urgency and placed correctly within the rhythm of a bout.

For Mysterio, that physicality also complements his established strengths. He can use quick strikes to create separation, force a larger opponent to react, and open the door for his high-risk offense. His style has always depended on speed, but it has never been weightless. The best Mysterio matches balance spectacular movement with sharp bursts of contact, allowing his comebacks to feel earned against opponents who may outweigh him dramatically.

Reed’s remarks offer a wrestler’s perspective on that distinction. Fans may naturally focus on Mysterio’s 619, springboard attacks and diving maneuvers, but an opponent experiences all of the smaller connecting moments that hold a match together. Reed’s description of being surprised by Mysterio’s punches is a reminder that the veteran’s effectiveness is grounded in more than his signature highlights.

Three Different Models of WWE Toughness

The three names Reed chose represent contrasting styles, which makes the list particularly revealing. Breakker’s physicality comes from acceleration and explosiveness. He has the traits of a powerhouse but moves with the burst of an athlete much smaller than he is, making his offense difficult to anticipate and even harder to evade.

Gunther’s approach is more methodical, though no less forceful. He wears opponents down, attacks with authority and projects a level of control that can make every strike feel decisive. His intensity is as important as the individual moves themselves. Gunther does not simply throw a chop; he establishes through his body language and pacing that the opponent is enduring a fight.

Mysterio brings a third interpretation of hard-hitting wrestling. His offense can arrive from unusual angles and at high speed, and it is often delivered while he is moving through the air or escaping a larger opponent’s grasp. Reed’s comments make the case that Mysterio’s lighter frame does not prevent him from bringing force to those exchanges. Instead, it makes that force more surprising to the people receiving it.

Reed also has an unusually broad basis for comparison. Over the course of his career, he has shared the ring with stars including Kazuchika Okada and Roman Reigns, among many other top names. That history makes his selections less about a limited run of opponents and more about the attributes that have stayed with him after competing at a high level in different environments.

Reed’s View Carries Weight

As a heavyweight who regularly brings a punishing style of his own, Reed is well positioned to assess who delivers the most punishing offense. His matches are often shaped by his ability to overwhelm opponents with size, heavy strikes and high-impact attacks. He understands the difference between an opponent who appears physical and one who genuinely makes their offense feel unavoidable.

His praise for Breakker is also notable because it comes from close range. Reed may not have wrestled Breakker directly, but tag team alignment offers a different vantage point. Partners see how opponents respond to each other’s offense, hear the reactions in the arena and observe the consistency needed to maintain a hard-hitting style on a weekly schedule.

With Gunther, Reed recognized one of WWE’s most established examples of intensity. With Mysterio, he highlighted the kind of toughness that can be overlooked when audiences focus exclusively on a performer’s size. Together, the choices show that physical credibility is not restricted to one body type or in-ring philosophy.

Reed also discussed the match he would like to have at WrestleMania 43 during the same conversation, demonstrating that he remains focused on the major opportunities ahead of him. For now, though, his assessment of WWE’s hardest hitters has put deserved attention on three distinct competitors. Breakker’s explosiveness, Gunther’s punishing authority and Mysterio’s unexpectedly heavy strikes have all made a lasting impression on one of the company’s most powerful Superstars.
