Andrade El Idolo has turned his attention back toward a familiar WWE opponent, publicly questioning Carmelo Hayes’ recent lack of visibility on SmackDown.
Andrade, who is currently recognized as the AEW National Champion, addressed Hayes with a short post on X. The message read, “Where are you Amigo ? @Carmelo_WWE” While Andrade did not offer further explanation, the question immediately drew attention to Hayes’ reduced presence on WWE television in recent months.
Hayes has not responded publicly to Andrade’s post. His most recent activity on X was instead centered on his fiancée, Kelani Jordan, congratulating her after she won the NXT Women’s Championship at WWE NXT Heatwave.

For Andrade, the message was directed at a wrestler with whom he has extensive recent history. The two stars were frequent rivals during Andrade’s WWE run in 2024, meeting as part of a best-of-seven series on SmackDown. Their rivalry ultimately produced 10 matches involving one another in less than a year, creating a competitive connection that remains notable even though they now work for different promotions.
A Familiar Rivalry Rekindled Online
The Andrade-Hayes series was one of the more sustained in-ring programs on the blue brand in 2024. Both men entered the series with reputations for fast-paced, athletic matches, and their repeated meetings made the pairing a defining part of that period of SmackDown.
Andrade’s social media wording carried a casual tone, but it also reflected the reality that Hayes has not been positioned as prominently as he was earlier in the year. The former WWE United States Champion has wrestled intermittently on television, rather than consistently appearing in major storyline developments or title programs.
The question also naturally invites speculation from fans because Andrade and Hayes have already established that they can produce a meaningful rivalry. Their previous encounters were not isolated matches between two wrestlers passing through the same division. They faced one another often enough to develop familiarity, competitive tension, and a recognizable contrast in styles.
There is no indication from Andrade’s message that a match, appearance, or business arrangement involving the two performers is being discussed. With Andrade under the AEW banner and Hayes in WWE, the post should be viewed for what it is: a public remark from one former rival to another. Still, it provides a reminder that their history has remained memorable to both wrestlers and their audiences.
Hayes’ Limited WWE Television Run
Hayes’ absence from several of WWE’s biggest shows has become increasingly noticeable. He did not compete at WrestleMania 42, despite the event being a two-night showcase and despite the importance of the United States Championship picture around that time.
Rather than Hayes challenging for the United States Championship at WrestleMania 42, Trick Williams defeated Sami Zayn to capture the title. Williams’ reign later ended at SummerSlam, where Baron Corbin defeated him for the championship. Hayes also missed SummerSlam, another two-night event that offered a major stage for WWE’s roster.
The title developments are significant because Hayes has previously been associated with the United States Championship scene and was once champion himself. A wrestler with that background would seemingly be a natural fit for a prominent role when the championship is changing hands on major premium live events. Instead, Hayes was absent from both WrestleMania 42 and SummerSlam.
His most recent televised SmackDown match came on the August 14 edition of the program, when he lost to Corbin. Before that, his last televised match was a non-title bout against Williams on the July 10 episode of SmackDown. Hayes did continue wrestling on WWE live events during the company’s summer tour, showing that he was active with the promotion even as his television schedule remained limited.
That distinction matters. Hayes has not vanished entirely from WWE competition, and there has been no public announcement suggesting an injury or departure. However, his presence on live events has not translated into a regular position on weekly television, especially compared with the frequency of his appearances earlier in the year.
A Strong Start to the Year
Hayes’ quieter summer followed a much more active stretch from January through March. After he won the United States Championship from Ilja Dragunov on December 15, Hayes wrestled with far greater consistency on the blue brand. That run gave him a clear place in WWE programming and kept him involved in a steady stream of matches.
The momentum shifted as WrestleMania season approached. Hayes became less visible around that period, and the absence became more apparent when the biggest shows on WWE’s calendar arrived without him. His appearances have since been sporadic, punctuated by the July 10 match against Williams and the August 14 loss to Corbin.
WWE’s roster depth can often result in performers moving in and out of television focus, particularly when multiple title stories and major-event programs are taking shape at the same time. Hayes remains a notable talent because of his former championship status, his history in NXT, and the upside he has displayed since reaching the main roster. That makes the lack of consistent television direction more conspicuous than it might be for a less established name.
His recent loss to Corbin further connects him to the current United States Championship landscape without necessarily clarifying what comes next. Corbin’s SummerSlam victory over Williams changed the direction of the division, while Hayes remains on the outside of a title situation in which he once played a major role.
Andrade’s Post Highlights an Unanswered Question
Andrade’s choice to raise the subject publicly has added another layer to the discussion surrounding Hayes. The AEW National Champion knows Hayes’ abilities better than most, having shared the ring with him repeatedly during their 2024 rivalry. His four-word question was therefore more than a random mention of a WWE wrestler; it came from a former opponent who spent a substantial portion of a year testing Hayes in the ring.
The post does not answer why Hayes has been used less frequently, and neither wrestler has supplied any additional context. There is likewise no confirmed indication that Andrade’s comment is tied to anything beyond his social media interaction. Until Hayes addresses the remark or WWE outlines his next direction, the status of his on-screen momentum remains an open question.
What is clear is that Hayes has continued working WWE live events while appearing only occasionally on SmackDown, and that absence has been visible enough for Andrade to acknowledge it from outside the company. Whether the comment leads to further interaction between the two former rivals remains to be seen.
